We are currently hiring for a Volunteer Coordinator.
The Volunteer Coordinator provides professional staff support to CASA volunteers ensuring that the children involved with the CASA program receive sound advocacy. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for volunteer supervision and coordination of cases. This role requires strong communication, analytical, and advocacy skills, as well as the ability to work independently while managing multiple cases. The Volunteer Coordinator must be able to navigate sensitive and complex family situations, demonstrate cultural competence, and uphold confidentiality at all times. Work includes office-based documentation and reporting, frequent travel for case-related visits, and occasional evening, weekend, and emergency response responsibilities. The Volunteer Coordinator reports directly to the Program Manager and works closely with the Department of Child Services, the court, and a variety of professionals and community organizations. This position requires sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to child welfare and advocacy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in social service-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- The ability to communicate with, supervise and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles. Experience managing volunteers given preference.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families where abuse and/or neglect has happened
- Commitment to CASA’s goals and mission
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Completion of CASA new volunteer training
- Advocate for at least one case as the assigned volunteer
- Assist in the recruiting, screening, interviewing and training of new volunteers
- Review new cases and assign appropriate volunteers in consultation with the Program Manager
- Communicate personally with each assigned volunteer at least monthly to ensure their well-being as they advocate for the well-being of children
- Prepare and distribute assignment documentation
- Review, approve, and file volunteer court reports
- Ensure volunteers are meeting and documenting program requirements related to visits, contact logs, and training hours
- Maintain case files in office
- Enter data on all new and existing cases into the OPTIMA program in a timely manner
- Attend court hearings and track court dates
- Provide assistance and consultation for volunteers as needed and when requested
- Provide regular feedback to volunteers and participate in volunteer annual evaluations
- Attend in-service trainings and other professional development as requested by Executive Director
- Assist in volunteer appreciation events
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Executive Director
